We are currently developing dedicated offerings for both First Birthdays and Baby Showers.

Because these gatherings often include additional family members, adult guests, and extended celebration time, they follow a different format and pricing structure than our standard birthday experience.

For the time being, First Birthdays and Baby Showers are offered during our 3:30 PM celebration slot on Saturdays and Sundays - so that their time can be extended beyond a 90 minute reservation.

Families are welcome to reserve their preferred date through our standard booking process. All reservations are secured with a $500 retainer and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

After placing a reservation hold, please email hello@theplayshopdc.com and let us know whether you are planning a First Birthday or Baby Shower. Our team will take it from there.

Play Shop birthdays are designed primarily for children ages 2–8 and are thoughtfully adapted to the age and interests of the birthday child.

Every celebration includes:

• Private access to The Play Shop

• A dedicated party team

• Thoughtfully designed activity spaces

• One guided signature activity

• Premium paper goods for children and adults

• Party favors for all child guests

• Complete setup and cleanup

What party favors are included?

For Slime Studio and Celebration Bakery celebrations, children receive goodies from The Play Shop Present, our signature pull-string piñata, along with a favor bag to take them home.

For Trucker Hat Bar and Charm Keychain Studio celebrations, children take home the creations they make during the activity in a Play Shop tote bag.

Families provide food, drinks, and cake.

We take care of the rest.

The Play Shop Birthday Experience includes up to 15 children.

Additional guests may be added for $35 per child, up to a maximum of 20 children.

Absolutely.

Siblings who will be participating in the celebration should be included in your guest count.

Families may arrive up to 15 minutes before the celebration begins to drop off cake and get settled before guests arrive.

Following the celebration, families have a 15-minute grace period to gather gifts, collect remaining food and personal belongings, and depart the space.

To ensure a smooth experience for all families, celebrations begin and end at their scheduled times.

The hosted birthday experience lasts 90 minutes.

In addition, families receive a 15-minute arrival window before the celebration and a 15-minute departure window afterward.

Yes.

Food may be delivered directly to The Play Shop on the day of your celebration.

Families may also bring food and beverages with them.

During your Celebration Planning Call, our team will discuss food logistics and can arrange a time for non-perishable snacks and beverages to be dropped off in advance of the celebration.

Every Play Shop birthday includes access to our refreshed activity spaces, thoughtfully designed for children to explore throughout the celebration.

From The Creative Studio and Photo Studio to The Little Library and imaginative play experiences throughout the space, children are encouraged to move, create, discover, and play with friends before and after the guided activity.

Each celebration also includes one signature group activity led by The Play Shop team.

Recommended for Ages 3–6:

Slime Studio

Children create and customize their own slime to take home, choosing colors, textures, and playful mix-ins along the way.

Celebration Bakery

A hands-on play dough experience inspired by the joy of a neighborhood bakery. Children create, decorate, sculpt, and package their own bakery-inspired creations using Play Shop's signature homemade non-toxic play dough.

Recommended for Ages 7–8:

Trucker Hat Bar

Guests customize their own trucker hats with a curated collection of patches, embellishments, and creative details to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Charm Keychain Studio

Guests design personalized charm keychains using an assortment of colorful charms, beads, and accessories to create something uniquely their own.

The Play Shop Present is a favorite Play Shop tradition for younger celebrations.

Guests gather for a pull-string piñata filled with sweets, stickers, treasures, and surprises. Each child receives a favor bag to collect their goodies and take home as a keepsake from the celebration.

For Trucker Hat Bar and Charm Keychain Studio celebrations, guests typically take home the creations they make during the activity in a Play Shop tote bag and enjoy an extended Karaoke Celebration in place of the piñata.

Beginning this Fall, The Play Shop will debut a redesigned celebration environment, with signature Play Shop charm that families have come to love.

Think striped walls, playful gathering spaces, artful details, beautiful books, creative corners, thoughtful styling, and the kind of atmosphere that feels both elevated and completely welcoming.

Inspired by our favorite members clubs, creative studios, and beautifully hosted gatherings, The Play Shop is designed to feel joyful, charming, and full of discovery from the moment guests arrive.

Optional enhancements are available for families who would like to add a few extra touches, but additional decorations are not necessary.

A custom-designed foam board backdrop created specifically for your celebration. Pricing varies based on design, size, and installation requirements.

All enhancements are optional. The Play Shop is thoughtfully designed and celebration-ready without additional decor.

During the call, we'll answer questions, review your selections, discuss food logistics, and make sure everything is ready for a wonderful celebration.

Yes.

A signed waiver is required for every child attending a Play Shop celebration.

The booking family will receive a waiver link prior to the event and is responsible for sharing it with their guests. All waivers should be completed before the celebration date.

Children without a completed waiver may not participate in activities until a waiver has been signed by a parent or legal guardian.

We understand that life with children can be unpredictable. If circumstances arise and your family needs to reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. We will always do our best to accommodate a new date based on availability.

Rescheduled celebrations must take place within six months of the original event date.
